Towards the Light
Come along on a musical journey towards the light in this chaotic and sometimes frustrating corona-time. The concert will begin with the gloomy violin concerto Täla Gaisma (Distant Light) by Peteris Vasks, where only a tiny glimpse of hope can be discerned in a landscape of dark uncertainty. Then follows Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir d’un lieu cher - a piece which by Tchaikovsky’s very unique sensibility tells us of the innermost thoughts and feelings we could have about places and worlds that may never become the same again. We will end this journey facing a brightest of lights, namely Vivaldi’s overnergetically dazzling Violin Concerto no. 1 - an incarnation of lust of life itself. We are very happy to be able to present our concertmaster, Romane Queyras, as our soloist for this exciting programme.
